This can lead to some Clinical Hypnotherapists treating symptoms inappropriately, using Suggestion Hypnotherapy. In this way the original symptom is ‘controlled’, or lessened. However the original unconscious cause will still be present, and the ‘controlling’ of the original symptom can lead to the creation of a completely new ‘substitute’ symptom. For example, the use of Suggestion Hypnotherapy to treat a person who has a fear of enclosed spaces (Claustrophobia) might mean that they subsequently develop a fear of going out (Agoraphobia), or maybe they develop a nervous twitch or stutter or some such thing; as a result of the Suggestion Hypnotherapy that was used to control their original symptom. They might then return to their ‘helpful’ Hypnotherapist, who will again use Suggestion Hypnotherapy to treat the Agoraphobia, and another symptom might then be created; and so the cycle continues...
However, with the use of Analytical Hypnotherapy it is possible to discover the root cause of the problem and, by discovering the root cause, thereby resolve and remove the problem permanently, without creating any other symptoms.
Therefore I can only recommend to you that, if you are considering Hypnotherapy for your problem, you take the time and make the effort to go to a therapist who has been properly trained in Hypno-Analysis, because this will be your assurance of effective treatment for your problem; and it will also be worth you travelling some considerable distance to the therapist, if necessary, to obtain this therapy from a professional, qualified, practitioner who fully understands Analytical Hypnotherapy.
It is a matter of some pride to me that I belong to the International Association of Hypno-Analysts (IAH), the only group of Hypnotherapists in the UK that specialise in Analytical Hypnotherapy, and fully understand Analytical Hypnotherapy, and routinely achieve very good results for all sorts of clients and problems, by using this therapy. Although numbering more than 200 practitioners throughout the UK we are in fact rather ‘thinly spread’ and I am one of very few Hypnotherapists in the whole of Surrey that specialise in this type of Hypnotherapy.
