At Surrey Hypnotherapy Suggestion Therapy usually takes about 50 minutes and merely consists of Consultant Hypnotherapist Peter Back speaking to you in a calm relaxing voice; with your co-operation you will enter a pleasurable state of Hypnosis.
Whilst in Hypnosis the conscious, critical part of your mind is subdued, enabling Peter to communicate directly with your unconscious mind without the conscious part ‘getting in the way’.
The unconscious part of the mind is the part that you are not usually aware of but which nevertheless controls your breathing, with no conscious effort, and many other bodily functions. It is also the part of the mind where your habits (behaviour patterns) and memories are stored.
By using Hypnosis and correctly worded suggestions Peter can ‘implant’ post-Hypnotic suggestions for behaviour modification directly into the unconscious part of your mind and thereby change unwanted behaviour.
After the session, in your normal ‘waking state’, the unconscious part of your mind modifies your behaviour, in line with the post hypnotic suggestions, providing relief for the symptom.
In effect, Suggestion Therapy ‘undoes the programming’ within the unconscious; stopping the original symptom.
Suggestion Therapy is used for easy to control problems, where the original reason for starting the symptom has disappeared, such as smoking, nail-biting, pre-test nerves, relaxation, confidence boosting, performance improvement, etc. It can also be used for some other problems such as tinnitus and bed wetting.
Suggestion Therapy can be used to introduce new attitudes and beliefs into the unconscious to improve performance in many areas of your life, such as in improving concentration, improving sports performance, help with meeting people, and in relaxation before important meetings or presentations.
Suggestion Therapy might take one or several sessions to achieve its aims, dependent upon the type and extent of the change required.
